Tampico, IL Sharon A. Cady, age 71, of Tampico, Illinois died Thursday May 5, 2016 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Sharon was born on January 16,1945 in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Vernon and Elma (Cryer) Bruder. She was united in marriage to Larry Cady on February 21, 1965 in Tampico, IL. Sharon worked at the Tampico Post Office as a clerk for 34 years and was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Larry Cady of Tampico, IL; three sons David (Mary) Cady of Tampico, IL, Michael (Kimberly) Cady of Tampico, IL , Steve Cady of Sterling, IL; 8 grandchildren, one step granddaughter; two step-great grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters Donna Radake of Tampico, IL, Nancy (George) Tornow of Tampico, IL; one brother Dennis (Dorothy) Bruder of Tampico, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor of the Tampico United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Rock Falls, IL Roger Kerkmann Frank, age 80, of Rock Falls, IL and formerly of Walnut, IL died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Regency Care in Sterling. Roger was born on August 12, 1935 in Alantic, IA, the son of George and Pearle (Kerkmann) Frank. He attended Atlantic public schools and graduated from Iowa State University in 1958. He served in the United States Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Emily Miller on November 7, 1959 in Elgin, Illinois. Roger was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut for 50 years where he served on the church council and various boards. He served on the Walnut Grade School Board for 12 years and was a lifelong farmer in the Harmon area for 50 years before retiring and moving to Rock Falls in 2000. In retirement, he volunteered for the VITAL program at Sauk Valley Community College and Roger also enjoyed reading and golfing. He is survived by his wife Emily Frank of Rock Falls, IL; two sons Timothy Frank of Clinton, IA, Thomas (Laurie) Frank of Rock Falls, IL. Roger was also a loving and devoted grandfather to Lindsey, Brady, Nolan, Aaron, and Hailey Frank. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut with the Rev. David Menet officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Regency Care in Sterling, IL. (Spohn) Hoover. She is a member of Abiding Word Church of Sterling and was involved in church ministry. She is survived by her mother Betty Hoover of Dixon, IL; one sister Nancy (Jose) Castillo of Dallas, TX; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Abiding Word Church in Sterling, IL, with Rev. Scott Porter, Pastor, officiating. Donna was born on December 31, 1943 in Red Bud, Illinois the daughter of Eugene and Alma (Welten) Heller . She was united in marriage to Michael P. Thacker on June 24, 1967 in Decatur, Illinois. Donna was a member of the Walnut United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed playing golf, loved to cook and Longaberger Baskets. She is survived by her husband Michael Thacker of Walnut, IL; one son Michael A.(Sherri) Thacker of Walnut, IL; one daughter Heather (Patrick Oldfield) Thacker of Ohio, Illinois; one daughter in law Donna Rosenthal of Buda, Illinois; four grandchildren Ella Thacker, Ryan (Jaimie) Rosenthal, Kylee (Adam) Gutshall, Tyler (Erin) Rosenthal; four great grandchildren Reese, Noah, Leena, and Cora; two brothers Jerry (Rhonda) Heller, John (Annette) Heller; one sister Marcy Lewis; special cousin Rose (Irv) Cartwright; and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son Todd Buzzard. Sterling, IL Richard E. Bruder, age 71, of Sterling, Illinois died Tuesday March 29, 2016 at his home. Richard was born on July 11, 1944 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Mary M. (Rosene) Bruder. He was united in marriage to Barbara Singshem on June 7, 1964 in Sterling, Illinois. Richard served in the United States Air Force National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a diesel mechanic for Jefferson County Road and Bridge in Golden, Colorado. He enjoyed Nascar Racing. He is survived by his wife Barbara Bruder of Sterling, Illinois; one daughter Faith Honeyman of Golden, Colorado; one son Richard W.(Danita) Bruder of Golden, Colorado; 5 grandchildren; 1 one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Larry. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Tampico Memorial Cemetery in Tampico. Tampico Thomas A. Russ, age 74, of Tampico died Tuesday March 15, 2016 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Tom was born on October 1, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Tony and Frances (Tijan) Russ. He served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Kogut on April 28, 1976 in Lombard, Illinois. Tom was an auditor for over 40 years for various hotels. He enjoyed antique cars. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Russ of Princeton, IL; three daughters Lynn Wienburg of Kewanee, IL, Elizabeth (Ken) Mead of Tampico, IL, Mary Russ of Tampico, IL; two sons Gary (Alicia) Garland of Woodridge, IL, Terry (Kelly) Garland of Walnut, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Malden, IL Marilyn Jeanette (Peach) Lubbs passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Malden,Il on the evening of February 27, 2016 at the age of 92. Marilyn was born in Pontiac, IL on January 29, 1924 the daughter of Howard and Etta (Mott) Peach. She grew up in the Walnut area walking to the Normandy School House, and then attended Walnut High School where she graduated in 1942. She then moved to Sterling to attend the Sterling (Scoville) Business College. She graduated and started working at the Prince Castle Company in the business office. On June 30, 1945 she married Arnold Lubbs at the Walnut Christian Church. Her career then changed to raising her five daughters: Carolyn (Fred) Meisenheimer and Suzette Lubbs of Walnut, Karleen (Peter) Clausen and Kathy Burton of Malden, Il and Lori Lubbs of rural Princeton, Il. She has 16 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren who were the light of her life as well as her faithful cat, Bo, who stayed at her side night and day. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, her older brother Don Peach, and her younger sister, Elaine Peach Taylor. Marilyn enjoyed being a full time mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoying gardening and canning, cooking huge Sunday dinners for the growing families, and raising beautiful irises. She was a long time member of the Bureau Township Community Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Bureau Township Community Church with Rev. Joe Weyer and Marilyn's grandson Anthony Clausen, co-officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Rockford, IL formerly Ohio, IL Marjorie LuRene Moodie Schultz, age 95, of Rockford, IL and formerly of Ohio, IL died at Wesley Willows Nursing Home in Rockford on February 27, 2016. Marjorie was born at home in Wyanet, IL on December 27, 1920 to Herbert A. and Barbara Edith (Kolp) Moodie. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Erwin Schultz on July 13, 1939 in Burlington IA. They resided in Ohio, IL where LeRoy farmed and shared a trucking business with his brother. Marjorie kept the books for the farm operation and volunteered at church and in the community sharing God's love daily. Marjorie was also highly energetic, learning to swim at age 70 and riding an Alpine slide down a Colorado mountain at 75 years with her sister who was 87. She had an amazing love for her family and loved ones. Everyone that ever knew her experienced or felt her Christianity, through the love she so openly shared with everyone she knew, whether family, friend or anyone she crossed paths with. Her family appreciates the loving care of the Wesley Willows staff and Visiting Nurses Hospice. She is survived by two sons Richard (Judy) Schultz, James LaVerne (Sharon) Schultz; 5 grandchildren Darcy (Michael) Wilson, Deanna (Kyle) Murray, Brian Szuda, Mark Szuda and Spencer (Stacey) Szuda; 8 great grandchildren Jakob and Abbey Wilson, Elaina and Kyra Murray, and Kristin, Austin, Brayden, and Cody Szuda. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Keith Lowell, one sister Berniece Brooks and one brother Lee Laverne Moodie. James was born December 9, 1948 in Princeton, Illinois, the son of Bruce and Dorothy (Fritz) Harper. He was united in marriage to Arlene Doctor on June 3, 1979 in Madison, Wisconsin. Jim graduated from Walnut Community High School in Walnut, Illinois and Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Illinois and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. He worked at JC Penney in Sterling, Illinois and Atherton Grain in Walnut, Illinois during his lifetime. Jim served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dixon and played on the church softball team. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Dixon, IL; one daughter, Ashley Harper of Batavia , IL; one granddaughter, Kalli Grant of Batavia, IL; 4 brothers, Richard (Amber) Harper of Walnut, IL, Steven (Ronda) Harper of Sterling, IL, Jerry Fritz of Walnut, IL and Jonnie Fritz of Rock Falls, IL; one sister, Mary Ann (Carl) Von Holten of Walnut, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Dixon. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut with Rev. Tim Mitchell, Pastor, officiating with a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place in Walnut Cemetery. Walnut, IL Eileen L. Dufelmeier Burkey, age 91, formerly of Walnut, passed away at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth, Illinois on February 19, 2016. She was born on August 26, 1924 in Arenzville, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and LaVerna Hierman Dufelmeier. She graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville, and taught in Milledgeville, Beardstown, and Walnut. She married Willard Kessler Burkey on November 17, 1957, and they lived and farmed in rural Walnut. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2007. Mrs. Burkey is survived by her daughter, Ann Burkey Brezinski, son-in-law Dr. Thomas Brezinski, granddaughter, Katharine Brezinski, sister-in-law Shirley Dufelmeier, and nieces Betty Schmoldt, Barbara Davenport, and Jane McKean. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Raymond Dufelmeier and Melvin Dufelmeier, sister Sarah Dufelmeier, nephew David Dufelmeier, and sister-in-law Josie Dufelmeier. A visitation will be held at the Walnut United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from noon to 2:00, with the funeral service at the church at 2 p.m. on Sunday with the Rev.
