Mary Elizabeth (Lutes) Rabe - 839/13/1934 - 12/27/2017
Mary Elizabeth (Lutes) Rabe, was born September 13, 1934, at the farm home in Zearing, IL.
She attended the one room Wolfersberger Grade School, in Berlin Township, all 8 years. She attended Princeton High School, and graduated from Malden High School in 1952. Mary was united in marriage to Dean Vertus Rabe on January 25, 1953, at the First Christian Church, Princeton, IL. They lived in the Princeton area until moving to Walnut in 1955. In 1963, they moved to the farm they had purchased in Walnut Township, where they farmed until retiring there in 1978. To this union was born three sons, Keith Vertus, Kevin Dean and Kent Terrill Rabe. Mary was born again on October 31, 1975, trusting 100% in Jesus Christ as her own personal Lord and Savior. Because of this, according to God’s word, she is now in Heaven. She followed her Lord in baptism December 5, 1975 at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN. Mary loved her husband and family, was an active member of First Baptist Church of LaSalle, IL, where she served her Lord faithfully, using the music abilities the Lord had given her.
Mary is survived by one son, Kent T. Rabe of Walnut; one daughter-in-law, Ann (Kevin) Rabe of Fairfax, IA; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, George Lutes of LaSalle, IL and Kenneth Lutes of Elk Ridge, UT; one sister, Carol Eidson of Nixa, MO; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Keith V. Rabe and Kevin D. Rabe; and one granddaughter, Michelle J. Rabe.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 9:30 – 10:45 AM at the First Baptist Church of LaSalle. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastors Wesley Waddle and Dr. Glenn W. Foster co-officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Walnut Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church of LaSalle.
