Patrick Henry - 90

Patrick Henry, 90, of rural Harmon died Monday, March 25, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.

He was born on March 18, 1929 in Nelson Township, Lee County, Illinois the son of Leroy Sylvester and Margaret (Tyne) Henry. He married Marilyn Quinn on August 8, 1951 in Williamsburg, VA. She died December 23, 2017. Patrick served in the US Army during the Korean War. He farmed his entire lifetime, retiring at the age of 85. He was a member of St. Flannen Catholic Church in Harmon and was instrumental in starting the annual corn beef and cabbage dinners. Pat served on the Drainage Ditch commission, was an ASCS representative, and was active in the Harmon community, organizing the community’s first fireworks. He was also a supporter of Sauk Valley Community College’s agriculture department. He enjoyed golfing, accomplishing 2 hole in ones and an albatross—all with his famous unorthodox stance.

Survivors include three daughters: Judi (Mark) Fenoglio of Chatham, Tricia (Brad) Scott of Redlands, and Kathleen (Dan) Quinn of Pompano Falls, FL; two sons: Michael (Rebecca) Henry of Harmon and Douglas (Sherry) Henry of Rock Falls; one sister Frances “Babe” (Dave) Brandon of VanPetten ; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife and his sister Peggy.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 29, 2019 from 5-7 PM with the Rosary being recited at 6:45 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 10 AM in St. Flannen Catholic Church in Harmon. Burial will conclude with military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery.
