Max R. Hubbard Max R. Hubbard, age 89, of Rockford, formerly of Walnut, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Atrium Extended Care in Rockford. Max was born August 10, 1929 in Wyanet the son of Harvey and Anna (Dalton) Hubbard. He was a 1947 graduate of Manlius High School and married Marie Gapinski on September 4, 1948 in Princeton. She preceded him in death in November of 1968. He later married Esther Heinzeroth on September 10, 1969 in Mendota. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2012. Max operated Hubbard Brothers Construction with his brother, Roger, for many years and also operated Gambles Store in Mendota and Walnut retiring in 1985. He spent his winters in Florida for over 30 years where he worked at a hardware store and did many remodeling projects. Max enjoyed woodworking, gardening and volunteering with the Walnut Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include three sons, Larry (Vicki) Hubbard of Rockford, Michael Hubbard of Rock Falls and John (Cathy) Hubbard of Naples, Fla.; one step son, Jim Heinzeroth of Mendota; eleven grandchildren, Marie Hubbard, Andrew Hubbard, Gabe Hubbard, Sean Hubbard, Allan Hubbard, Matt Heinzeroth, Don Heinzeroth, Jared Heinzeroth, Kim Simpson, Julie Lee and Tim Funfsinn; and many great grandchildren including Damien Hubbard. He was preceded in death by both wives; his parents; one step son, Bill Heinzeroth; one step daughter, Donna Funfsinn; two brothers, Roger Hubbard and Donald Hubbard; one sister, Doris Kissick; and one grandson, Bill Heinzeroth, Jr. Visitation will be Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 10-11:00 AM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Eldon Cook of the Walnut Community Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at Malden Cemetery.
