Arlene Lavonne Johnson, age 87 of Rock Falls, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Allure of Prophetstown (formerly Good Samaritan), surrounded by her family and holding her husband’s hand. Arlene was born on July 9, 1932 in Walnut, the daughter of Albert and Mae (Parlier) Barth. She attended Walnut schools and graduated from Walnut High School. Arlene married Lloyd Johnson on September 9, 1951 at the Red Oak Church in Walnut. She was a homemaker, farm wife and devoted volunteer. Arlene was an active member of Red Oak Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a part of the Ladies Circle. She was very involved in Royal Neighbors, helped with Feed the Children, and served as an election judge. Arlene was a wonderful baker, she enjoyed cooking, mowing the yard, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and working with her husband on the farm. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Lloyd; five children, Ron (Joni) Johnson of Walnut, Denise (Randy) Cady of Tampico, Doug (Colleen) Johnson of Janesville, WI, Linda Mitchell of Prophetstown and Pamela (Mike) Lawrence of Prophetstown; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Brett (Kate) Johnson, Kimberly (Justin) Kelly, Jeffrey (Kristie) Cady, Myles (Madi Bockheim) Johnson, Ian (Allie Erdmann) Johnson, Ella Johnson, Hunter Mitchell, Kiylie Eads and Caley (Kyle Wayne) Lawrence; nine great grandchildren, Brennan, Ashleigh, Coggin, Kaehler, Gillian, Austin, Harrison, Owen and Khloe; and one sister, Alberta Nusbaum of Dixon. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Genevieve O’Malley and Marilyn Louise Barth in infancy; and one brother, Ed Barth. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Red Oak Church in Walnut. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will conclude at Walnut Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Red Oak Church in Walnut.
